Marianna Zoumpliou

“I observe people and places and depict what they are trying to hide.”

Marianna Zoumpliou is a visual artist and workshop facilitator, based in Kent.
Her work explores the invisible, whimsical layer of the sublime that covers our everyday life. She is influenced by mythologies and the folklore.
Her inspiration springs from the Greek legends she learned as a child and goes to a place where all origins blend. More particularly she is interested in the female figure in the folk tales and the ancient archetypes founding the presence of women today.
Her recent projects involves block printing and drawing.
“From Athens, to London, to Tonbridge” is an on-going series of black and white prints that revisits images of the artist’s every day life blending with unconscious elements.
